The Australian broadcaster [[:en:SBS (Australian TV channel)|SBS]] organised the national final for Q1-2023 contest in order to select the Australian entry for the Q1-2023 contest. Six entries competed in the national final, and the winner was announced on 8 January 2023 following the of votes from a eight-member jury panel from states and territories of Australia.

According to the selection rules, an additional stage of determining the winner was involved: first, by the number of points received from each voting state and territory, and in the event of a tie, by the quality of the marks starting from 5 points.
