The British broadcaster [[:en:BBC|BBC]] organised the national final for Q1-2023 contest in order to select the British entry for the Q1-2023 contest. Three entries competed in the national final, and the winner was announced on 8 January 2023 following the public vote.

ХХ members of the jury (which included ххх) had the right to evaluate the compositions according to the system of 3, 2 and 1 points from the best to the worst composition. The winner was determined by the highest sum of all points scored.
The voting system in the preselection has changed: so any interested participant in the upcoming competition (24 voters with the right to vote, including the representative from Japan) had the right to vote. Each voter had to give 1 point to the most liked composition and at the same time take 1 point from the most disliked composition. At the start of the voting, each composition had 10 points on the balance sheet. As a result, 15 voting participants used the right to vote.
