[[Albania]], [[Cyprus]] and [[France]] are debut in the competition, however [[New Zealand]] withdrew from the competition without explanation.
Twenty-nine countries participated in the contest, along with debuting [[Albania]], [[Cyprus]] and [[France]] are debut in the competition. [[Canada]] returning after their absence from the previous edition. Last season's competitor [[New Zealand]] withdrew from the competition.
 
The winner was [[Norway]] with the song "Head Up", performed by [[:en:The Score (band)|The Score]]. [[Greece]] (best result), [[Germany]], [[Israel]] (best result) and [[Canada]] (best result) rounded out the top five. The following countries improved their results: [[Thailand]], [[Italy]], and the [[Netherlands]].
