Nationaal Songfestival van Nederland is a song competition organised by AVROTROS every six months. It determines the country's representative for the WorldVision Song Contest, and has been running since summer 2022.

Origins

The first "Nationaal Songfestival van Nederland" was held on 7 June 2022 at Paradiso in Amsterdam; three songs participated. Five "expert" juries from ather countries and the puplic had the same voting proportion and decided the winner. The competition was won by Suzan & Freek performing "Goud".

Participation

To be eligible, performers must be at least sixteen years of age on the day of the first Worldvision semi-final. There were no restrictions on the Dutch affiliation of the performers, as well as language restrictions, at least in the first edition all compositions were performed in Dutch. The number of participants for the season is also not reported.

Hosting

The first season was decided to be held in Amsterdam.

Format

At the moment, it is not known in what final format the competition will take place. The first season took place in the format of one round (final) with the participation of nine songs and the voting of the jury and the public.

Voting

The competition provides for the voting of the international jury and the audience in a percentage ratio of 50% to 50%. The jury consists of 5 curators from other countries and the public votes with a set of points: 12, 8 and 5 points.
