Open Nippon Q1-2023 will be the 2nd edition of the Japanese music competition and will be held between 2 and 4 January 2023 in Okinawa (Okinawa Arena). The winner of the contest will be eligible to represent Japan at Worldvision Song Contest Q1-2023.
Format
Open Nippon Q1-2023, organised by Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK World), was held in the format of one final with the participation of four invited compositions released no earlier than 1 October 2021.
Voting
This season of the national preselection has undergone a change in voting: this way the jury voting has been removed and the audience will influence the results of the compositions 100%. So each viewer has the right to vote for one of the compositions he likes, and for all four.
Announcement of performers
The introduction of participating performers took place from 28 to 31 December 2022 in order of performance.
Final
Voting will take from 2 to 3 January 2023.
