Sun of Monaco is a song competition organised by TMC (Monegasque public broadcasters) every six months. It determines the country's representative for the WorldVision Song Contest, and has been running since summer 2022.
Origins
The first "Sun of Monaco" was held on 12 June 2022 at TBA in Monte-Carlo (Monaco); five songs participated. Five "expert" jury chose the winner. The competition was won by Purple Disco Machine and Sophie & the Giants performing "In The Dark".
Participation
To be eligible, performers must be at least sixteen years of age on the day of the first Worldvision Semi-Final. There were no restrictions on the Monegasque affiliation of the performers, as well as language restrictions. The number of participants for the season is also not reported.
Hosting
The first season was decided to be held in Monte Carlo.
Format
The competition is held in one round (final) with a jury vote.
Voting
Each member of the jury has a set of points according to the system: 3, 2 and 1 points.
