Japan participated in the Worldvision Song Contest Q2-2023 in TBD, the [[]] with the song "TBD" performed by TBD. The Japanese broadcaster NHK organised the national final for Q2-2023 contest in order to select the Japanese entry for the Q2-2023 contest. Four entries competed in the national final, and the winner was announced on 30 March 2023 following the jury vote.
Open Nippon Q2-2023 was the 3rd edition and took place on 30 March 2023. The winner of the contest will be eligible to represent Japan at Worldvision Song Contest Q2-2023.
Format
Open Nippon Q2-2023 was held in the format of one final with the participation of four invited compositions released no earlier than 1 January 2022.
Voting
The voting system in the preselection has changed: so any interested participant in the upcoming competition (26 voters with the right to vote, including the representative from Japan) had the right to vote. Each voter had to give 1 point to the most liked composition and at the same time take 1 point from the most disliked composition. At the start of the voting, each composition had 10 points on the balance sheet. As a result, XX voting participants used the right to vote.

Voting took place from 28 to 30 March 2023.
